Trying to find a way to blog my study abroad experience in China.
Things to Look Forward to:
But first I have to get through:
Things that happened too fast and are already over!:

I’m sorry, I don’t know why, but when I see cute animals I just have to repost. I hope it brightens your day too!!

I really like otters. Unfortunately I keep choosing to go to a place where I won’t see anything of the sort (including clear water).
Currently way over my head in info about the Yellow River, Loess Plateau, and all the surrounding issues… 2000 words and 24 hours to go!

… has been a problem. It was worse at the beginning of the quarter, but if there’s one thing that study abroad taught me it’s that Michigan drivers can’t handle Beijing-trained pedestrians.
I can gauge how fast people are driving and I know I can cross halfway before these two cars pass one another, then make it before that one even comes around the corner. I’ve had more time and opportunity to figure out traffic (from both a driver’s and pedestrian’s perspective) than the average Kalamazoo driver assumes. As I dart in front of their vehicle.
After two occasions of brake-slamming and honking (then gunning it after I crossed) I toned back, realizing that we’re not in Beijing anymore, Toto… And now I’m usually late to class.
^.^
I brought some of my better pencil drawings to decorate my room in Kzoo. Two of them are drawn from pictures I took: one in London and one of Notre Dame, the third is of a bridge in China, taken from a picture in National Geographic… but now that I’ve been to China I’m going to draw this one to add to my collection! The others are in this style - kind of sideways angles of buildings. The architecture will be a neat challenge!
I realized recently that I’m going to have to change my blog title, I won’t be living in Beijing this sumer! 西安!I’m so excited to go back to China, but I will really miss my life in Beijing - which is what I associate with China. I think this experience will be much more difficult, being in the field in the summer, and working with actual minority groups outside cities and stuff. But at the same time, how cool!? Gah!!
There is love in this club.
There is music that moves us in unison.
There is drunk laughter and fast talking.
There is sex in this club.
There are bathroom blowjobs and sloppy kissing.
There is the tension driving our lower halves towards one another. There is love in this club.
There are…
I found out yesterday that my blog about my life in China will be back in session this summer!! During class I got a voice mail that said I’ve been selected into the Xi’an program that I have been looking forward to since January! This means 6 weeks in a National Science Foundation-funded project with 4 weeks in China: 2 in Xi’an and 2 in the Yellow River basin in Shanxi province, not to mention a topic for my SIP! OMG can’t wait!!
